About me

I am Quoc Nguyen, a 46-year-old biology specialist living in Vietnam. My background in biology means I spend a lot of my time thinking about how the body works: how hormones are produced, how nutrients are converted from one form to another, and how small chemical signals can have large effects on how we feel and function.

Alongside my work, I have always enjoyed research and writing. Over the years I have found that the most useful thing I can do with what I learn is to explain it clearly, so that people without a science background can make better decisions for themselves.

I started Yu Sleep Guide in 2026 because I noticed how difficult it was to find balanced information about sleep supplements. Searching for Yu Sleep brought up sales pages and copied articles full of perfect ratings, but very little about what the ingredients actually do, how strong the evidence is, or who should avoid them. I wanted to build the resource I would want to read myself.

Why biology matters for supplement reviews

Sleep supplements are, at their core, biology. Melatonin is a hormone that signals night to the body clock. 5-HTP is converted into serotonin, which the body then turns into melatonin, with help from vitamin B6. GABA is the nervous system's main calming messenger. Understanding these pathways helps me separate what is biologically plausible from what is simply marketing language, and explain both to readers.

My background also makes me cautious. Biology teaches that the same molecule can affect people very differently depending on their age, health and the medicines they take. That is why every guide on this site includes side effects, drug interactions and the people who should not take a supplement, not just its potential benefits.

What I write about

  • Sleep supplement ingredients and the biology behind how they work
  • What published research does and does not show
  • Safety, side effects and drug interactions
  • Pricing, buying guides and how to spot unreliable sellers
  • Practical sleep habits that make any approach more effective

How I research

For every article, I read the product label and official information, look for systematic reviews and clinical trials on each ingredient, check public health sources such as the US National Institutes of Health, and compare customer feedback from independent sources rather than only the testimonials on sales pages. I date every page and update it when prices, ingredients or research change. The full process is set out in our editorial policy.
